Carolina Handling

Carolina Handling has donated proceeds from sales of its holiday pop-up book, Santa’s One-Stop Integration Shop, presenting a $5,000 check to Literacy Together in Asheville, North Carolina.

One of the country’s leading integrated material handling solutions providers, Carolina Handling published the children’s pop-up book to help educate customers and potential customers about the company’s continuing evolution from a forklift-only provider to an intralogistics partner offering end-to-end solutions for warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities.

The fourth and final children’s book in Carolina Handling’s Solutions for Santa series, Santa’s One-Stop Integration Shop incorporates pop-ups to illustrate flow racking, a very narrow aisle wire guidance order picker, a spiral vertical conveyor and vertical lift modules in three-dimensional fashion.

“We’ve had fun the past three years raising our brand awareness and positioning Carolina Handling as a leading material handling integrator with our Solutions for Santa children’s books,” said Carolina Handling Director of Marketing Donna Waldrep. “Pop-up books have been used for many years to help readers understand complex or abstract concepts, so we decided to make this year’s book an interactive experience.”

Written by the Carolina Handling Marketing department and illustrated by Jason Craft, Santa’s One-Stop Integration Shop was created as a holiday gift for customers and community partners. Copies were then sold online to benefit Literacy Together, which has served the Buncombe County area for almost 40 years.

“Our corporate sponsors play a vital role in helping Literacy Together achieve its mission of transforming lives and communities through literacy,” said Literacy Together Executive Director Amanda Wrublewski. “We are grateful to Carolina Handling for their generous donation, which is essential for supporting our youth, adult, and ESOL programs.”

Tax Credit Marketplace, LLC

SC- based Tax Credit Marketplace, LLC (“TCM”)’s 2024 South Carolina Tax Credit Fund closed December 31, 2024 after successfully investing in real estate projects that generated $45 million in South Carolina income tax credits, a 44% increase over 2023. With over 170 investors and 24 qualifying rehabilitation projects in 7 counties across South Carolina (Greenville, Spartanburg, Richland, Charleston, Oconee, Cherokee, and Aiken), the total development costs of the 2024 Fund’s projects exceeded $216 million.
“Each year, we establish an annual fund to invest in tax credit-generating projects completed within the same year,” said Josh Workman, CEO, Tax Credit Marketplace, LLC. “Consequently, the Fund provides our developer partners with a single source to monetize their tax credits.”
By purchasing limited ownership interest in the projects, the Fund is allocated all, or a portion, of the projects’ tax credits during the credits’ utilization period. The Fund investors can subscribe to the available tax credits to reduce their South Carolina state tax liability. The diversity of the fund’s investments allows the investors’ capital to be deployed in transformative redevelopment projects all over the state.
The 2024 Fund included projects from multiple asset classes, including hospitality, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family, office, retail, single-family residential, storage, and student housing. In addition to the Fund’s abandoned building, historic, and textile credit projects, TCM placed $7.6 million in Federal Historic tax credits, over $80,000 in Angel Investor credits, and consulted on a variety of development projects across the state.
“We assist developer partners in structuring their projects to maximize the value of available tax credits,” said Workman. “Often, these projects produce more tax credits than a development team can use. We provide developers with a platform to monetize the excess credits, unlocking additional capital that would otherwise go unused.
