Sigal Music Museum regretfully announces that Elise C. Sigal, who along with her late husband Marlowe, served as the inspiration and namesake of the museum, has passed away at her home in Oakland, California the age of 89. Mrs. Sigal was instrumental in creating the Elise C. Sigal Musical Education Program and fund, which supports many of the museum’s educational endeavors.
Born in Bath, PA, and raised in Allentown, PA, Elise spent most of her adult life in Boston and Newton, MA, before moving to Oakland, CA, where she spent her final years being close to her children. She graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in music history. Elise is survived by her children, Andrew and Erica Sigal.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to the Elise C. Sigal Musical Educational Fund at Sigal Music Museum, Greenville, SC.
