Greenville, SC (August 6, 2024) The Greenville Homeless Alliance (GHA) announces the addition of four new Steering Committee Members.
Jeremy Huff is the Director of the Miracle Hill Ministries Greenville Rescue Mission, the largest emergency shelter in South Carolina. The shelter serves men and provides meals, access to healthcare, counseling, and more for those experiencing homelessness. He has been on staff with Miracle Hill Ministries for the past 8 years, serving most recently as director of the Overcomer’s Center. Jeremy is a graduate of Leadership Greenville and serves as Co-Chair for GHA’s Innovate Working Group. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music and a Master of Divinity from Samford University and is currently working on his Master of Business Administration.
Addy Matney is the Senior Executive Consultant/Vice President of Community Relations for TM Public Relations. She also serves as the Executive Director of the Piedmont Health Foundation. Addy is a consultant with 20 years of experience in strategic planning, nonprofit board governance, collective impact, facilitation, community relations, and advocacy. She currently serves as a member of the Greenville Transit Authority and the Phillis Wheatley Community Center boards. She is the Chair of the Church Council at Mauldin Methodist Church. She also serves as the Chair of the Community Advisory Board for Family Connects and as a member of the Steering Committees for the Equity in Public Health Initiative, Impact Greenville, and Greenville Connects.
April Simpson is the Program Director for the Community Rehabilitative Services (CRS) program at Greater Greenville Mental Health Center. The CRS program serves Serious and Persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI) persons to help them remain or gain independent living. For over 14 years, April has worked to provide resources for SPMI and to provide overall improvements to mental health and stability in the community. April is an Executive Board Member of NAMI of Greenville and a graduate of South Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Rehabilitative Counseling.
Norma Jean Suarez is Executive Director of Unity Health on Main, a nonprofit Community Health Center, whose mission is to continuously improve the overall health and well-being of the medically under resourced populations by expanding access to quality healthcare through community partnerships. Norma Jean is a graduate of Leadership Greenville, served as Chair of GHA’s Collaborate Working Group, and was selected as an inaugural fellow for MDC’s Investing in Leaders of Color (ILOC) fellowship. She earned master’s degrees in business administration and counseling from Webster University. Norma Jean is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
