This marks a deeply personal homecoming for Alice T. Crowe, the playwright, who is an attorney, entrepreneur, and filmmaker. Crowe’s family roots run deep in South Carolina. Waiting for Burial is directed by Clark Nesbitt.

The production is important to Crowe, whose father and his siblings were born in South Carolina and whose grandmother, Edith Cleopatra Gandy, graduated from Benedict College in 1914.
“Bringing ‘Waiting for Burial’ to South Carolina is a way for me to connect with the Greenville community and my family’s legacy. This story brings togetherness, hope, and community at a time when we need it the most,” said Crowe.
Alice T. Crowe is a Bronx-born, Nyack-based playwright, filmmaker, attorney, and entrepreneur whose multidisciplinary work explores Black history, identity, and speculative futures.
