The Matador

Greenville, S.C. — The Matador will celebrate its grand opening in downtown Greenville’s West End on Monday, May 5, bringing scratch-made Mexican-inspired fare, an extensive selection of tequila and agave spirits, and handcrafted interiors to 722 S. Main Street. The opening falls on Cinco de Mayo, and Matador is celebrating accordingly—with all-day drink specials, live entertainment, and an open invitation for locals to come hungry and stay late.
Greenville marks the latest expansion of The Matador in the Southeast, following successful openings in Charleston, S.C., in 2023, and Charlotte, N.C., in 2024.
For owner Zak Melang, the opening of The Matador in Greenville represents a significant homecoming, building upon the momentum of recent restaurant launches in Charleston and Charlotte. “Having grown up in Winston-Salem, the opportunity to bring our passion for Mexican-inspired cuisine and agave spirits back home to the Carolinas is truly a dream realized,” says Melang.

SEE YOU ON CINCO DE MAYO
To celebrate the grand opening, Matador will host an all-day Cinco de Mayo party on Monday, May 5, complete with all-day drink specials, live entertainment, and a festive atmosphere. Guests can also explore Matador’s tequila-forward cocktail menu and agave spirits list, the full menu of Mexican-inspired cuisine, and happy hour deals available from 4–6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close.

The grand opening celebration is open to the public, and seating will be available downstairs on a first-come, first-served basis. The Matador is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to midnight, with no minors allowed after 9 p.m.
